She's a smart, sexy lyricist meeting for coffee with a smart, sexy composer
of the opposite gender, when someone plays the jukebox and suddenly, "Ho, ho,
they're playing my song - oh, yeah, they're playing my song," and a celebration
of the self ensues. And see how great she looks in her draped-and-fitted burgundy
silk shift-dress with the pink tie-dyed "bursts" on the front and back(side).
This little number zips up the back, and has long black-and-red rayon fringe
that falls from hip-to-heel. She has black, curly mid-length hair; her waist
is very trim (arms, too!); she's got that great matching fringed neckpiece;
she's wearing her little black-strapped, high-heeled sandals - and little black
briefs. And isn't it amazing? Her outfit strongly resembles one worn
by Lucie Arnaz when she played someone just like this on Broadway (and won a
Theatre World Award in the process!). Lucie's Sonia had three alter-egos -
so maybe this bear-likeness is the "missing fourth"! In this vintage Neil Simon
musical comedy, the romantic and professional journeys of Sonia and Vernon Gersh
(the composer) somehow had strong parallels to those of the show's lyricist
(Carol Bayer Sager) and composer (Marvin Hamlisch). Go figure... In the meantime,
Sonia Bear says, "if you really knew me," you'd know that with all of its ups
and downs, "I still believe in love" - and not "just for tonight"!
