James Fisher's hilarious farce straight out of 16th century Italian commedia dell'arte. You'll find the characters audiences having been laughing at for over two thousand years, from ancient Rome to A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. |
Playwright James Fisher has directed over 140 productions around the United States. He wrote The Bogus Bride in 1982 and staged it at Wabash College, where he is Professor of Theater, with his students; subsequently the play has had numerous college productions leading to this first professional staging. Fisher, also an actor, has authored four books, held several research fellowships, and published articles and reviews in numerous periodicals. He edits The Puppetry Yearbook and is book review editor for the Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism. Fisher is 1999-2000 McLain-McTurnan-Arnold Research Scholar at Wabash, and he was named "Indiana Theatre Person of the Year" by the Indiana Theatre Association in 1996 following his direction of an acclaimed and controversial production of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning Angels in America at Wabash. Fisher is currently completing a book on Kushner's oeuvre, as well as one on Edward Gordon Craig's early theatrical productions. |
Director Nancy Larsen is a cofounder of the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. |
